Emma Baer Halbleib
Ok so I finished the nursery (and hospital bag) on Saturday and cleaned the house pretty spotless because we had Dave's parents and my dad over for dinner Sunday. I guess I really jinxed myself because when I went in for my weekly dr. check-up on Tuesday I never checked out. They sent me across the parking lot to the hospital birthing center. There were a few different complications and red flags that caused it, but in the short run it was mostly my blood pressure level. And after they said they were gonna possibly send me to the hospital to have her today the blood pressure went WAY HIGH!
I called Dave and told him he better leave work and head to bend! I called my parents and sisters and everyone was on there way. I checked in, got in the dumb gown, got the IV put in (I hate needles so this was really hard for me) and waited. After a couple hours everyone showed up. Because I wasn't dialated at all they had to give my drugs to start the process. Nothing happened for a long time so everyone went to grama's house to get sleep until we called. At 12:30 that night my water broke. Needless to say that was a very strange feeling and when I started laughing it only got worse! We called in the nurse and she was very happy that it broke on it's own, then she told me things would really start happening now. I thought bring it on let's get the ball rolling...bad idea!! The next few hours were awfull. I was reacting badly to the contractions and they wanted to start me on pitocin which would make the contractions worse so I got the epidural. It worked wonders on me, but as soon as the contractions started coming more frequently things went down hill for baby. I was pretty out of it because I was so tired and no longer in pain but I knew the doctors were in the room and watching me. I could here them talking to Dave every once in a while. Every time I had a contraction Emma's heart rate would drop. When it hit 60 around 4:30 am they told me I had to go in for an emergency C-section. I got the shakes really bad and wouldn't let go of Dave's hand telling him I couldn't do it and not to let them take me in because I was terrified. He assured me that it was gonna be ok and he would be there with me. They all got in there scrubs and took me into the operating room. I demanded Dave had to be there and as soon as he came in I felt so much better. With all the drugs I didn't feel a thing and just locked myself on Dave until 5:05 am when they said "here she is" and I couldn't believe it was over. They let Dave cut the cord and brought my beautiful baby to me. Then said my job for the next two hours was to sleep. I thought that sounded pretty good! The next thing I remember was my mom walking in at 7:30am and asking how things were coming along, needless to say she was very suprised to see Dave holding a beautiful baby girl. My family was all gonna be in the room when I had the baby so for them to miss everything was a shock. My baby is named after her great great great grama Emma Baer. I hope you all enjoy the pictures.
